Introduction

 

Our self-catering flat is on the Ground floor of a Georgian building. There are 4 steps leading up to the front door, and another set of 3 steps within the flat. We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement, if you have any queries please do call. We look forward to welcoming you.

 

Pre-Arrival

  • We have an informative pictorial website: www.theflat.org.uk

  • Bookings / enquiries can be made directly from the website via email or via telephone or by letter

  • The nearest bus stop for Dorchester or Portland is 50 metres from the entrance. Weymouth town centre  is less than 300 metres away

  • The nearest train station is less than 0.5 miles away; there are accessible taxis at the station

  • There are several public conveniences located at intervals along The Esplanade

  • This access statement is available on our website and in the lounge in the flat

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  •  There is a free permit available for on-street parking in close proximity to the rear of the flat

  • The entrance at the front has 4 steps – 15cm high, 30cm deep, 160cm wide.  It has a hand rail on the left and right (door hinged on the right).  The door is 98cm wide and 210cm high; the Yale keyhole lock is 130cm high

  • Temporary parking for unloading / loading on arrival / departure is 25 metres away from the entrance

  • The entrance to the flat has red railings and a white door

  • The main entrance is the front door from The Esplanade.

  • The key for this door is issued to our guests on arrival

  • Non feather duvets and pillows provided

  • Largest free space clear of door and furniture is 2 m x 2 m

  • The main room light has a switch at the door. There are three separate lamps available by each side of the bed

Hallway

  • Size of hallway 7.3m long x 1.9m wide (narrowing to 92cm)

  • Halfway down hallway are three steps leading to the lower part of the flat

  • Three steps – 18cm high x 30cm deep x 84cm wide

  • Hand rail on right hand side of steps, 1m high

  • Room size 2m x 1.65m

  • Door width 70cm x 191cm high

  • Shower with 5cm high step-over (access not suitable for wheelchair)

  • Shower space is 70cm x 70cm x 180cm high

  • The height of the power shower unit is 178cm

  • The sink height is 81cm

  • Space available in shower room, free of doors and furniture is 1.10m x 1m

  • Toilet seat height 40cm

  • Flooring is non slip tiling

  • Good colour contrast between floor, walls and furniture

  • Space under wash basin is free

  • The room also has a wall mounted heated towel rail

Self-catering kitchen – off lower hallway

  • Room size 2.86m x 3.12m

  • Door width 60cm x 190cm high

  • Worktop 88cm

  • Oven door is drop down, height of lowest shelf is 45cm

  • Sink is 88cm high with cupboards underneath

  • Electric hob is 90cm high. Above hob is an extractor unit

  • A microwave is also available

  • Catering standard crockery is provided in the cupboards beneath the work surfaces. Glasses and cups etc are in the wall cupboard

  • Fridge with small freezer is under the work surface and the  highest shelf is 50cm

  • Gas boiler mounted on wall

  • Flooring is wooden parquet

  • At least 70cm free space between all furniture and work tops

  • Kitchen is lit with wall and spotlights

  • Good contrast between floor, cupboards and other surfaces

  • Evacuation of flat is either via front door (98cm) or rear fire door (74cm wide), down metal stairway (6 steps, plateau, further 6 steps)

  • The flat is non smoking

  • No pets allowed

Laundry

  • For 24 hour laundrette, turn left out of the flat, take 3rd turning on left into Lennox Street. Laundrette is at end of street

Shop

  • Turn right out of flat and right again into King Street. Shops include general stores, fish & chips, Indian and Chinese takeaways, etc.

Leisure / Outdoor facilities

  • The Tourist Information office is 300 metres along the seafront as you turn right out of the flat
